It's open house!

It's been a week, I was missing home very badly. The thought that I have to leave home after weeks of fun almost killed me, and had to leave in the middle of the festive mood, that just poisoned me even worst! I didnt wanna leave home, I dont wanna be separated from the indulgence of spice-rich and carb-loaded Malaysian food that always (always) makes me feel so good.

And so, last saturday Kelab UMNO London held an open house. As part of the committee, I was summoned by the team members to come and do the decoration. Ouh, decor. That is something that would encourage me to get out of bed early and be there. r

The event officially begun at 5, even before 5 there were bunch of people who had already arrived at Delima (one of the famous Malaysian restaurant in London). The food was served -  a vast selection of malaysian food was prepared. Curry noodles, nasi minyak accompanied by rendang kambing, ayam masak merah, acar nenas and dalcha. As for dessert, there was puding jagung, pengat pisang, some keropok udang and keropok ketam, and more, but I just cant recall.

After 5, the restaurant was swarmed up with people. People kept pouring in just like the pouring rain. Alhamdulillah the rain didnt stop the crowd from coming. It was amazing at how many Malaysians are actually residing in this metropolitan. And those who came probably just 30% of all. I bet there must be more.

love this: with 3 cotton baju kurung ladies (with Aina and Neesa)
kak nurul, kak yus, and hakim
with putri, the first guest who came and even offered to help me decorating the place
with Hannah and her friend Diyat

The fun part of an event such this was meeting people. Ouh, me love. I love talking to people and I also loved the part that I met friends who I hardly get the chance to hang out. When I talked to people, I realized how small the world is. I talked to Diyat and Hakim who apparently a friend of my old friend. And the friend is a friend of another friend and ouh rupanya, Hakim is a the brother of this kakak who is a collegue of another friend of mine and ouh! and ouh! and ouh! The circle keeps on goin.

A funny part, one of the VIPs who came was a Secretariat of Dewan Negara. Kebetulan, orang nogori. He was so excited talking to me in nogori's accent but I awkwardly replied in a rojak of malay and english. The conversation kept on for few minutes and he in the end joked "Ekau ni da orang putih sgt ni..!" That showed how poor my appreciation is to my culture and background. =_="

Ouh that was fun. There was some bits of unpleasant moments, but there's nothing perfect in any day. Everyday is a mishmash the goods and the bads. I was a little disappointed with the attitude of some people who were choosing whom to talk to, to whom to smile to, to whom to hang about with. Come on, we are big people with big mind, furthermore living in a developed country. Let's socialize as if we have a first class mentality. Well, I know it was not my lost because it was not me who sat down at one corner and chitchat in their small world. *wink*

The day ended with karaoke session with Iman at the basement. We took over the mic after everyone had left, sang with our penyek voices and were the last two to leave the premise. A saturday well spent and my missing home fever subsided a few degrees :)
