Once upon a time, I wonder...

Why do u have to work so hard to save these dying old patients? It may sound wrong coming from a future doctor, but from my immature mind and naked eyes, another tablet equals to more suffering to them. I was literally depressed for a week to be in this ward. Until I saw Mrs X, who had been bedridden, suddenly on wednesday wardround sitting on her chair waving with glee at me, then covered her face with her turtleneck collar and put her arms up pretending to be scary to me - that was rewarding. Something that the team gave did its magic.

Obviously. I was wrong about leaving them old vegetables to die. True we can't prolong their lives for another 50 years, at least let them have a more comfortable life before their last breath. That's the aim. Took me 3 weeks plus a pep talk from my consultant to answer my question, why do we work so hard to safe this people.

PS: Goodbye Colchester, goodbye Care of Elderly.
