Keeping faith

We all work for various reasons. To make mom proud, for the bucks, security, to keep up with society who is never gonna stop achieving more and more...those are all my personal reasons. I have that believe/faith by fulfilling those reasons will make me feel happy.

But I dont. My timetable is makes me feel isolated, lonely, in despair. I might feel happy at times, but it is not solidify thus easily out of my grasps. I have to work again and again, and exhaust my body to almost dying because I dont feel at ease.

As if He understand what I am looking for, on one random conversation I had with my friend Akiey, I was spoken of Twins of Faith. I normally wouldnt go for stuff like that, but just because Akiey was coming all the way from Edinburgh. So okay, bought the tix, contemplated to go but went anyway.

Alhamdullilah, I didn't regret it. The speakers, the place was awesome, the scale of the event was like "Woah!" and the atmosphere (dunno if I was being extra emotional) was totally awesome, I can feel the ukhwah and for the first time in many times I dont feel alone in a room full of people.

There were 9 short lectures, by various speakers who I never heard of but I bet they are all popular speakers. Nouman Ali Khan, Sh Alaa El-Sayed, Sh Navaid Aziz etc. In between we had halal entertainment by Boonaa Mohammed and Junaid Jamshed. Bolded are the title of the lectures. Take home notes are:

• Love is a powerful weapon that could destroy you, but love for Allah will bring you at your best.
• Would people want to be a muslim because of u or people dont want to become a muslim bcz of u? Would u hold accountable for that as the ambassador of Islam?
• When we love, we show it by taking actions. The way we love the beloved are by embracing Al-quran and Sunnah
• The best of ummah is balanced - yes do dakwah but there are things that have rights to our time. The body have the right to rest, the rights to your family, to your community. Because Islam is Ihsan. 
• Secrets to happiness are istighfar, patience (to Allah, destiny, trials, desires) and syukran. 
• It's one faith one family, a tie because of Allah
• one race that all muslims are in is the race to forgiveness
• what have you done today to love Allah? None? Why? Because negativity brings us down by telling us "We're not good enough." Preach what you're practice, practice what you preach no matter how little it is.

In summary, I must slowly shift my reasons in life. They are not bad reasons after all. It's good to work my ass off for to make your mom proud of u but ultimately, we work for Allah. Thats what makes us special than the non-believers. We are clear that life is temporary, home sweet home is the hereafter. The end is not here but the end is near.

What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew. (29:64)

PS: I missed Reviving Prophet's Dream lecture because I went out to have dinner. Too hungry tak boleh tahan. Btw, Twins of Faith will come to Malaysia in december. So, go grab your chance people!
