Le mommy's hometown

I couldn't recall a single day that really really I looked forward to going back to Teluk Intan, Perak (mom's hometown). It's different, it's just not for my liking.

One because of it's distance. 3-4 hours car ride, this time 5 hours because it's mom's first time driving back on her own. The layers of roads, crisscrossing, countless signboards through KL, for noobies, these were intimidating. Until we entered the North-South highway then we could finally breath properly.

Two, it's like going back to another planet, meeting another human species. The most logical explanation I could give would be, I didn't grow up there. The house, the toilet (read: the shower and the toilet are separated, with one far outside in the dark, without water or power supply), the strange relatives who I don't get like the one I mentioned on twitter. I can't explain further because I'd sound like a spoiled kid if I did.

Three, it's super hot. The countryside is made of paddy fields thus the land is bare and empty, tree-less except palm oil trees, just a blanket of hot air. Dehydrated wind adding further discomfort during the stay. I remembered when I was young, the only thing I'd do was fighting against my sister for the fan, or being frantic against mom wanting to go home asap.

23 years later, I am still that brat who make annoyed faces when mentioned about balik kampung Perak. Except this time, I was seeing a little bit more positivities like mee rebus (boiled noodles), cendol (iced coconut milk, brown sugar? and the green thingy) and salted fish. (keyword: food)

Never did I think that the life we all looked down upon actually brings a big earning.
Didn't it mentioned 9/10 of rizq is from business. Cheers to my fish selling uncle and cousin.
