Above is a common line you'd find in a fictional book. I've always been a fiction book person. Fantasy, man-made life story with man-made realm. With the eruption of catastrophic news around the world nowadays, I thought I should start endeavouring the love for non-fiction. The things about a non fiction is:
- they are facts
- they are opinions
- they can be hard to accept
I always have to keep reminding myself "Read with an open mind, not to agree or disagree, but merely to understand one's point of view." And that's why it takes me double the time to finish this book, The Malay Dilemma.
It is a good book, it's a perspective that people commonly avoid to discuss publicly. I respect Tun's opinions but at the same time, he ignited the fire within me, not fire of anger, but the fire of enthusiasm to prove him wrong. Hmm, I am guessing that's the kind of spirit he wants to ignite in the young generations who read this book.
Goodluck to myself. Semoga jadi warganegara yang berjaya memajukan diri, keluarga, agama, bangsa dan negara. And Happy Independence Day, Malaysia.
