It's time for goodbye. At the time of writing, we are waiting for our connecting flight to michigan and then to london. As for me, I have a longer journey to home, Malaysian home.
This morning was proposed as the free-and-easy day which means we can do whatever. And for me, I opted for solo stroll to look at a few more things and do few more things on my list.
My solo stroll began with exiting the metro station feeling lost but the sun had shine so bright. I saw the map, I saw where I was going. I walked down 3rd st to get to the Independence Avenue where I'd see the US Capitol.
Exchanged 'Good morning!' with the security guards. Enjoyed the heliotherapy and the quiet time by myself. Birds were chilling by the reflecting pond and the bright sun turned the Capitol into a dark silhouette. It was pretty but my eyes craved for details.
I climbed the road at the side of it, crossing the grassy bit, there were tulips and fallen petals of unknown flowers, snapped, Capitol is now on my instax film.
Next, I need to post these postcards. My gps showed that the post office was in one of these government building. Entered cannon building thru x-ray security, down to the basement, thru the tunnel, I was intimidated when I was lost especially I was in the government building with super tight security. Found the post office, put the cards in the box. Tried to find my way out, and I found myself lost again.
"Sir, how do I exit this building?" I asked the cleaner, the person I felt less scared to look in the eyes to.
"Where do you wanna go?"
"Just out of here." With some urgency in my voice. I hate being watched by these government officers.
Down the hall, turn left. Phew! I was under the blue sky again. Next, the Library of Congress, or The Library of America. Where the congress, the president or the Vice President do their revision and borrow books. Anyway, I just have a thing for Library. I found libraries here (and in Europe) inspiring and intellectualises. They are not boring square building with books, they have arts, sculptures, amazing facade and inviting.
I wanted to enter but from outside the main door, I could see the X-Ray machine and security guards. Well, that's okay, I am not gonna take off my watch and belt again. A few steps down the grand stairs, I heard the fire alarm, and people streamed out. Oh well, I guess it's time for home.
Went down 1st street to the nearest metro station, which was beautiful interiorly. These 2 hours had been the most amazing quite time of life. Now let's go home.
